The Mission of The Candor Institute
To promote transparency, healing, and learning through the Candor process after adverse health care incidents, and to end preventable medical errors.
About The Candor Institute
The Candor Institute was created as a result of an important provision in the Colorado Candor Act, which was enacted in 2019.
Why Are We Here?
The Candor Institute will serve a central role in developing best practices to promote transparency, healing, and learning through the Candor process after adverse health care incidents. By supporting research, lessons learned from the Candor process will be disseminated to the health care community to further the goal of ending preventable medical errors.
What is the Candor Law?
Candor laws, such as the Colorado Candor Act, were developed to encourage the Seven Pillars Program, which was a precursor to what became CANDOR (Communication and Optimal Resolution) supported by the AHRQ CANDOR toolkit.
