Kendra is a registered nurse who has over 15 years in health care leadership. She has a background in emergency nursing, physician and nursing education, risk management and patient safety. She is a licensed nurse in the State of Colorado and has obtained her Executive master’s in clinical quality, patient safety and leadership from Georgetown University, where her capstone focused on capturing patient and family experience/ satisfaction after engaging in a Candor conversation. She has patient safety experience in community hospital, large health system, critical access hospital settings as well as from a professional liability lens. She is passionate about ensuring patients, families, providers, and health systems are equipped with the tools and resources to engage in disclosure conversations. Like many patient safety advocates she and her family have experienced the effects of adverse medical events. But she has also experienced the true healing that comes from providers talking openly, honestly and with compassion to patients and families.
